Big Year…

I recently saw a movie called The Big Year , it was about birding, passion and the motivation to just go out to do what you love.

Mercedes Benz GT R

Is there something for car enthusiast ? I don’t think so. Although I know we all have hundreds of car pictures in our phone’s albums.

I think it will be very interesting to have a big year of car sighting, traveling around the country to find rare limited editions cars, something that we can enjoy, that special piece of art that nobody has seen in person.

It’s black or white ?

I was on a long drive the other day, and was wondering about the past, the present, and the future, you know, like when you are thinking about life and million thoughts get into your head.

Back in the 80’s, there was no sort of in-car entertainment for kids, so you had to play with your imagination; with my siblings, we used to play who finds more cars of a specific color. Back then, there were a lot more options than today.

Now back to the present, I was looking for different colors and I realized that everyone is driven a white, black or silver car.

What happened with the excitement about colors? When did the manufacturers or the consumers stop believing in colors. Do you all think that life is only black or white?

Less is more…

Let’s talk about minimalism in the auto industry. Decades ago auto manufacturers competed not only for the best exterior design or performance, they also compete for interior design, practicality and who could give more information.

The cockpit used to resemble those in airplanes, the more buttons, dials, gauges the better. Some specialty companies only built quality gauges and precision instruments for high-end manufacturers.

I remember that more buttons mean more features. Nowadays with technology evolving everything is turning more minimalistic, the concept of less means more is taking the car industry by storm.

Maybe driven by tech companies entering the auto space or maybe because of a more straightforward approach for less distracting driving.

The clean design, fewer dials, gauges and buttons mean more room for storage; a center screen controls everything. A less distracted driver has been born but, simultaneously, more dependent on technology.

Some manufacturers are rethinking the way a proper steering wheel should be. At what point surrendering all the control to a screen is going to be the norm?

Electrify Expo Impressions

Guest speakers and industry professionals make their presentations on stage

Last year the biggest expo for electric vehicles was host in November at Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, TX.

It was a fantastic display of new vehicles by different manufacturers, like candy for car enthusiast, you were able to find all the latest models and even drive some of them.

I was lucky enough to visit the expo pre COVID back in 2019 and let me tell you all, it’s been a huge improvement. Ay that time I was able to spot a Rivian actually the truck and the suv version.

These time European manufactures have their latest models on display, from top of the line fully loaded models to even the basic ones. It’s impressive how technology can improve in a short period of time.

Computers and AI is taking control of the car market, also charging times and range are improving.

There was a specific area for bicycles and different electric powered transportation gadgets. It’s interesting how the world is shifting to an all electric era.

If you are interested in knowing more about the expo I would recommend visit their website and attending the next event, it’s a fun day for the whole family.
